A Draft Copyright Amendment Bill (South Africa)

Written by Andrew Rens on July 29th, 2015

A draft Copyright Amendment Bill has been published for comment by the Department of Trade and Industry. Interested parties have until 27 August to submit comments to the Department of Trade and Industry.

The proposal is not yet a Bill, instead submissions will be considered by the same department that created the draft. The re-drafted proposal will then be submitted to Parliament and become a Bill, the parliamentary process should allow a second opportunity to comment.

Intellectual Property Watch quotes as some initial reactions while Jeremy Speres outlines some of the features of the draft.
